With more very heavy rain overnight, the question of flooding and standing water has arisen its ugly head again this morning, and I've been visiting residents here in Central Swindon to talk about some of their really distressing experiences as a result of flooding.
Working with Swindon Borough Council and Thames Water, and indeed the Environment Agency as well, where appropriate, to bring the agencies together to find solutions, both short term, in terms of making sure that silt is cleaned from our systems and longer term to ensure that the systems themselves are more resilient for these, big events, has been very much part of my work over the years here in Swindon, and that's what we continue to do. And, I want to thank residents for their patience and their cooperation in coming together,in order to try it and get these problems solved.
