Sir Robert has visited the Oakfield Development in Swindon, a pioneering development launched by Nationwide Building Society. He had been involved in the planning and development of this site for about five or six years.
Two hundred and thirty nine properties, with a good proportion of them being social housing, are available for the community to own.
The energy efficiency, sustainability, and layout of the estate have all been praised, and it is seen as a great addition to Walcot and Park North. It is also seen as a national significance, showing how sustainable housing can be done well.
