As part of his ongoing work to raise awareness about Dementia here in South Swindon, Sir Robert Buckland MP is calling on local residents, local businesses, charities, schools, colleges, and all local community groups to take part in “Elf Day” https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/elf-day
Each year, Elf Day raises money and awareness for the Alzheimer's Society, a national care and research charity for people with dementia and their carers.
More than half of the UK public knows someone who has been diagnosed with dementia, and here in Swindon, there are estimated to be over 2,200 people with the condition.
Alzheimer’s Society makes it easy to teach and learn about Dementia by providing resources on their website here: https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/.../dementia-teaching...
Sir Robert would also like to take this opportunity to invite you to join him and become a Dementia Friend. He explained:
"Too many people affected by dementia feel that society fails to understand the condition they live with. Dementia Friends helps by raising awareness and understanding so that people living with dementia can continue to live in the way they want."
You can find out more about becoming a Dementia Friend here: https://www.dementiafriends.org.uk
If you decided to host an Elf Day event, or you decide to sign up to become a Dementia Friend, please do let Sir Robert know!
