Swindon Neuro Wellbeing Centre provides a lifeline to hundreds of people living with a variety of neurological conditions, who want to not just manage their condition, but to seek out how they might improve symptoms. However, some of their therapies help others too, including those living with cancer, leg ulcers and long covid - in fact, they consider any condition where the therapies they offer could make a positive difference.
That's the reason why, at the end of June the centre rebranded, from the Swindon MS & Neuro Therapy Centre, to become known as the Neuro Wellbeing Centre; to better reflect the growing diversity of the conditions they support and treat.
Fully accessible and already supporting hundreds across Swindon, North Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire, the centre is the only such facility offering transformative hyperbaric oxygen therapy within a 35mile radius; a therapy widely credited with benefits including improving mobility and boosting energy. Swindon Neuro Wellbeing Centre also provide renowned physio-led training and classes, for those with neuro conditions, in their extensively equipped gym, sports injury rehabilitation through their NASA-designed reduced gravity treadmill, and several other therapies to improve and manage symptoms, promote wellbeing and maintain independence. Anyone can self-refer to assess whether services may be useful in managing their condition.
Run by a team of staff, volunteers and physiotherapists at the well-equipped premises in Westmead Drive, the Swindon Neuro Wellbeing Centre community is diverse and inclusive; no matter the age, condition or need. They appreciate that anyone can develop a life-changing condition at any time and often when they least expect it! The centre can help to point the way forward through practical support - and provide a place where others know exactly what you're going through, because they've been there too! That's why they want to ensure that anyone who could benefit, knows about the centre and can access services.
It costs around £20,000 a month to run Swindon Neuro Wellbeing Centre - and despite being a small self-funded charity, they receive no statutory funding, so they are always looking for, and appreciative of, grants, fundraising and donations to supplement the contributions received from clients - as well as the support received from the amazing team of volunteers at the centre.
