Since the Summer of 2020 I have been working with residents of Copse Avenue and Network Rail to find a solution to the excessive noise at anti-social times of the day that residents have been experiencing from generators, grinding and idling trains being tested at Swindon Transfer Sidings.
I organised a meeting between a group of Copse Avenue residents and local leaders from Network Rail, who agreed that the noise levels experienced by residents were unacceptably high and expressed a wish to come up with a solution that meets their business needs, but also allows Network Rail to be a good neighbour to all living along the railway line.
I have since been working with Network Rail to secure funding for this alternative solution and I am pleased to let you know that work has started on a dedicated siding in Westbury, due to complete in September. I hope the letter overleaf from Network Rail is of interest.
I am delighted to have helped deliver this change which I hope will be welcomed and wish to thank both the residents who brought this to my attention and Network Rail Wales and Western Route for their action and support.
If you have any specific questions on this or any other local or national issue, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me,
Yours sincerely
