We are in the closing two weeks of the Wanborough, Liddington, Badbury & Chiseldon scheme to deliver Gigabit fibre (scheme closes 20/8).
Robert and Gary have been working on this since April 2020 and with the help of residents we have promoted this scheme online, delivered leaflets and spread the word to our neighbours. Gary in the Ridgeway Villages and Neil Richardson in Chiseldon have championed the scheme and we now have Gigabit Fibre under construction, with close to £2m of pledges to deliver this Government funded ultrafast fibre to these villages.
This will transform the lives of residents and the project delivery team have said how welcoming residents have been when approached about how they are connected.
Working from home for at least some of the week is a reality and actually a benefit to our Climate Change agenda, with fewer car journeys, but a pre-requisite is fast and reliable broadband. In these villages 1-10mbps was a previous experience – by May of 2022 1000mbps will be possible.
I’m delighted that at a time when we have had no opportunity for big public meetings the positivity of our communities has helped spread the word and I’d like to thank those who have displayed Gigabit banners and posters or delivered leaflets.
