Further update - 25th June 2024
I have been contacted by a local resident to say that the changes below in Fleming Way have yet to take place, and it is still difficult for residents to access our town centre, particularly for those with mobility issues. I have contacted Swindon Borough Council to raise this again today and as soon as I receive a response, I will share this with you.

The ongoing regeneration work around Fleming Way has meant that local residents here in Swindon have temporarily faced a longer walk to the shops in our town centre. For those with mobility issues, I appreciate that this walk can be difficult.
However, the regeneration work, which is due to be completed in 2025 will mean that accesses from the bus interchange will be vastly improved.
I recently contacted Swindon Borough Council to ask what could be done to improve this situation in the meantime, on behalf of local residents, particularly those with mobility issues.
I am pleased that after raising this issue, I have been advised that in the next couple of weeks, the crossing over Fleming Way at the Milford Street junction will be moved on to the newly constructed section, away from the current temporary route.
This will make the pedestrian route from the bus station a much easier one, and only a few minutes longer a walk between the bus station and the Parade than via the old underpass.
