South Swindon MP Sir Robert Buckland is inviting local residents to a Volunteer Expo event here in Swindon as part of National Volunteers Week.
The event, which has been organised by the Live Well Swindon Team and Library Services, will take place on Wednesday 7th June between 2 - 4pm at Central Library and will showcase some of the many volunteer projects we have here in the town.
Sir Robert Buckland said:
“Here in Swindon, we are extremely fortunate to have hundreds of volunteers who carry out fantastic work every day, making a huge difference in our local community.
“There are many different groups and organisations who regularly meet up across the town, and many activities on offer for local residents to join in with, whatever your hobby, from craft clubs to sports groups, to cake baking groups.
“Volunteering is a great way to make new friends and to tackle loneliness and isolation.
“As well as helping others, volunteering has also been shown to improve volunteers' wellbeing too.
“Why not pop along and find out more about what’s going on here in Swindon.”

Notes for editors
Volunteers Week takes place between 1st-7th June every year. It's a chance to recognise the fantastic contribution volunteers make to our communities and say thank you.
Volunteers’ Week is supported and celebrated by small grassroots organisations as well as larger, household-name charities.
Together they run hundreds of activities across the UK, which showcase and celebrate volunteers and their contribution to our communities.
Volunteers’ Week 2023 is a time to celebrate and inspire. We aim to highlight that our diversity is our strength, show that there’s more than one way to volunteer and encourage people to be the change that we want to see.
Volunteers are always active at the heart of every UK community. So taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate and recognise their efforts and all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector and society as a whole have never been more important.
Every year hundreds of events, both online and in–person, take place to celebrate Volunteers’ Week and the huge range of ways in which volunteers give their time. This year will be no different.
A wide variety of activities will be happening across the country from volunteer recruitment events and open days to celebration and recognition events.
