Honda Redevelopment To Bring 7,000 Jobs
I know how important it is for people in Swindon to have access to well paid and skilled jobs in the local area, so you can love, work and raise a family locally.
That is why I am delighted to have been a part of the process to secure the massive redevelopment of the Honda site, in a project that is expected to be worth over £1 billion to Swindon and deliver around 7,000 jobs.
Working with Conservative Councillors, the Government and the development company, Panattoni, I am so pleased that I was able to help get this incredible opportunity for Swindon over the line and I will continue to push to make sure it gets done.
With a mixture of job opportunities expected, including many skilled and manager-level roles, I know that everyone in Swindon will feel the benefit of this exciting redevelopment. I will be working to ensure that local people know what opportunities are available to them at the site.
As part of Panattoni’s plans, the company will also invest heavily in the local area. I am very pleased that the business has also agreed to invest £5.5m into wildlife around the Borough, as well as other funding, which includes £248k for the Great Western Community Forrest, £745k to improve the junction of the A419 and roads to Blunsdon, £100k to improve cycling and walking infrastructure around the site, the development of a travel plan to help people access the site without cars, and installation of public art. I will continue to work to ensure that maximum economic benefit is secured for our town, as part of the Panattoni redevelopment, bringing jobs, growth, skills, and training opportunities for local people.
